The Hannover Medical School, founded in 1965, is one of the world's leading university medical centres. Our research and patient care set national and international standards. We are also part of an excellent regional medical network. Our outstanding success in interdisciplinary collaboration both within the MHH and with extramural scientific institutions is reflected in the fact that the MHH is the German medical university with the greatest volume of grant funding.
The Hannover Medical School campus covers an area larger than 50 football fields – more than 400,000 square metres – bordering on Karl-Wiechert-Allee in the district of Gross-Buchholz. Here, the Central Clinic is surrounded by the Clinic for Paediatrics, the Gynaecology and Obstetrics, the transplantation research center - the so called Hans Borst Center for Heart and Stem Cell Research - further research laboratories, lecture theatres, the library, the Center of non medical health care schools, administration buildings as well as residences and recreational facilities. Two clinics are located at other locations in Hannover: the Clinic for Orthopaedic Surgery (in the Annastift Hospital) and the Clinic for Dermatology, Allergology and Venerology (at the moment still in Hannover-Linden).
